About

Moi

Hi, I'm Caroline

Photographer located in Mirabel and most importantly, mom of 3

Passionate about photography since 2012, enthusiastic hobbyist for several years until the passion turned into a profession. I strangely have a university degree in business administration, but I'm passionate about visual arts.

The things I love most in the world: my adorable daughters and my more-than-perfect partner (he cooks and makes incredibly beautiful children). I love running, the ocean, animals, foie gras crème brûlée and Sunday DIY projects (which often take more than one Sunday). Always with my camera around my neck, I chase light, golden hour, softness, emotions, and lens flares.

When I became a mother I had a new need, to stop time, to lock my children's personalities in a box and be able to open it again every time nostalgia overwhelms me.

I want to return the favor because I know how important it is to freeze time and that these memories take on all their meaning and importance when our little ones are no longer so little. I wish to put to use my ease behind the camera and my ability to make you feel comfortable in front of it, to capture your life at a precise moment, sometimes peaceful but often chaotic, to make you relive these moments several years later.

I want to see your little ones and the evolution of your family, from pregnancy to the "smash cake," through the newborn and the "no-longer-so-new baby," then to a new pregnancy, siblings and all the in-betweens of what your life really is. Your perfectly imperfect family is what I'm passionate about, what I currently identify with most having three young children myself. I'm glad you read this far and I can't wait to meet you to immortalize what matters most to you!

How does it work?

My approach during a photo session is as simple and natural as possible. It's the opposite of awkwardness. I want you to have a pleasant time because ultimately, those emotions are what will translate into the images. I'm not looking for perfection but rather for the authentic that comes out of each person. The magic is already in your daily life, my job is simply to create art with that beauty.

How does it work? We walk, we talk, we laugh, we move, we run, we frolic, we play. And I click through all of that. Yes, that's my job. Someone pinch me.

Rose

I have a very similar approach when it comes to post-processing. I look for depth and contrasts that add movement and a living character to the image. I avoid falling into the black hole of the popular green desaturation and warm tone exaggeration so that you keep timeless memories and not ones from fleeting trends.

My little studio

Welcome to my home!

I created a calm space for us with minimalist vibes, soft textures and neutral colors. Comfortable cushions, linen and details that make it warm and welcoming.

No need to deep clean your house and redecorate your bedroom to make it Pinterest-worthy by carefully removing diapers, toys, dog hair and dirty laundry before the photo session. Leave your house a mess, just show up.

Soft, diffused and "natural" light is present 24/7. So no need to postpone the session due to dark weather or adapt the session time according to daylight. Yes, I'm offering you light therapy as a bonus!

Client Closet

What should we wear?

Favor casual and comfortable clothing, neutral colors without logos or patterns. Avoid tight clothing that shows undergarments. For young babies, we love delicate textures like wool, knit, cotton, muslin, etc. We love to see their arms, legs or feet since these are details we'll love looking at later. We avoid stiff and thick fabrics, loose clothing that distorts and depersonalizes like jeans, shirts or patterns, designs and bright colors. Think soft, natural and comfortable.

Garde-robe 2

I've started creating a small wardrobe currently consisting of a few dresses for women and baby/children's clothing that are offered to you at no additional cost. My goal is to save you from buying pieces that would only be useful for the duration of a photo shoot. The clothes are washed and ironed for you before the session. Take a look and mention when booking if any piece would be useful for your session.

Where do we shoot

Practical Tips

shoot

At your home in the comfort of your family space where all your memories are? In the park where you grew up? By the river where you caught frogs throughout your childhood? I'll follow you wherever you want to go! You prefer to entrust me with this task? I'll find you the perfect "spot" in the Mirabel area. If you want to choose the session location, don't overthink it too much. The shots will focus on the subjects' interactions (that's you!) and not on the scenery, even if it's really beautiful. Better to find a quiet place that isn't crowded, with easy access, where the light is soft and where you can interact freely.

If the session takes place midday when the sun is at its highest, favor a location with plenty of light diffusion like the presence of trees to avoid, among other things, squinted eyes and unflattering shadows on the face.

Finally, don't forget to wear bug spray. Children getting bitten usually don't have a moment conducive to smiles. Also, since we'll need to move around and I capture moments on the go, travel light and leave bags in the car (I'll have my camera bag with me if you need to put small items). Also think about wearing appropriate shoes for walking.

FAQ

  • Except for weddings and births (15 days), the turnaround time is 10 business days.

  • We decide together on the same day whether to move the session to your home, to the studio or to a later date. For weddings, as they say, rain on your wedding day brings good luck. I have 2 translucent umbrellas that I'll bring if needed and the photos will be beautiful regardless. For aquatic sessions, rain creates a beautiful effect so photos are maintained unless there's lightning or thunder.

  • We plan the session around 28-36 weeks of pregnancy ideally. All the info right here

  • I'd say when mom and baby are ready, no rush. To capture baby more sleepy, ideally before 2 weeks. If baby is premature, wait for the due date and add 2 weeks to it. For photos with a more awake and responsive baby, 6 to 12 weeks. When baby can sit up alone, the variety is interesting too. Click here for my baby portfolio.

  • I'm here for it. I love the chaos (when it's not my own kids). I'll never ask children to sit still and motionless for photos. We do everything in the form of games and capture the connections, emotions and authenticity.

  • Two Sony camera bodies, a DJI drone, a Seafrogs underwater housing, a Godox flash. I mainly work with a 24-70 lens but I also have a 35 and a 16-35 in my bag.

  • Absolutely! The poses will be different from an experienced swimmer but it's totally possible to take the photos even if our comfort level is limited. Go check out my underwater session page right here

  • Never. I'm not awkward and I never ask you to look at me for a big fake smile. I make myself a place in your real life and blend into the background. We have a good time and without you even realizing it, I capture your interactions, emotions and connections.
